Vintage World Electronica with Claude 9
Perhaps you know him from Austin’s favorite vinyl hangout DJ Dojo, or as the keyboardist for the funk, soul, and hip hop outfit Afrofreque. Claude 9 has been a forefather of Austin’s electronic scene and can typically recall nearly every electronica act that has come in or grown out of the city.
On Friday November 7th and November 27th, Claude 9 takes the tables from 10pm - 2am at Maria Maria, a new Mexican restaurant, club, and art gallery at 415 Colorado St.
It’s a night of cutting edge and vintage Latin, Reggae, African, Funk, and Middle Eastern beats fit for a Maria Maria’s amazing food and drinks. As a supporter of the arts, as well as for the electronica scene, the venue will likely become an Earthbird favorite.
Maria Maria, the creative collaboration between music legend Carlos Santana and Chef Roberto Santibanez, celebrated their grand opening in Austin on October 6th and have since featured live music every Thursday through Saturday evening. Named for Santana’s Grammy winning song, “Maria Maria,” the restaurant/club/gallery features original artworks by Calixto Robles, Irene Carranza, Michael V. Rios, Rudy Gutierrez, and Sal Garcia.
