V2 on its way

October 23rd, 2008

Been a while since any of us wrote anything.  I thought I should give an update to our currently non-extant blog-readers.  We have been pounding away on some major changes to the site.  Most of the changes may not be too noticeable but it should make discovering events even simpler and more fun than on our first version.

We spent a lot of time on search.  Were really focused on making sure users can discover those events that are suited just to people like them.  I for one hate going to an events site and even seeing Ballet events.  Come on, do I look like I want to go to the ballet?  What gives?  I want my events site to know me.  Know who I truly am deep down; even in the darkest recesses of my soul, and know, with absolute and utterly incontrovertible certainty, that I want to go to the Opera…

Field testing GoLark!

May 17th, 2008

After a long and secluded winter I’ve finally found some time to venture into the city for some fun finding. Usually when I travel I make it a point to do some field testing on the GoLark app so when I hopped off the bus at Port Authority I whipped out my iPhone and looked up NYC. Sure enough, I found a cool exhibit at the MOMA called Geometry in Motion and had a blast. It’s good to know GoLark is working! Here’s some photos!

Better Facebook App!

May 14th, 2008

Hey guys,

We finally updated our facebook app.  It makes sharing your favorite larks with facebook friends even better!  Try it out, let us know what you think.  We also made some updates to our submit form.  It’s even better to use now, and pretty soon you will have the option to automatically have any submissions you make on GoLark automatically go out to some other top event sites.  Just to give things maximum exposure.  But of course, we know you will still use GoLark.com to discover great things to do!

cheers,

H

I wish I had time to do some of the stuff on GoLark

April 11th, 2008

I just wanted to say “thank you” and “you’re welcome” to all of the people sending us emails about the great stuff they’ve been finding on GoLark.  We hope you guys will keep sharing and finding fun things to do in your town!

And stay in touch because we are in the process of making some big changes here that can only make fun-discovery at GoLark.com even better!

been a while…

March 24th, 2008

since we last posted.  We have made a ton of changes to the site, mostly in response to feedback from our users, so THANKS!  Now you can find all the great larks in one simple list.  There have been some other subtle changes you may notice, but most of the good stuff is behind the scenes.  We hope everyone is making it to all these cool things going on!

GoLark on the iPhone!

February 7th, 2008

When I picked up my iPhone back in July I thought to myself, this device would be absolutely perfect for GoLark mobile. Everything you could possibly need to find and get yourself to an event is right there at your fingertips (literally). Sooo, after several months of making sure our main app was solid we gave the iPhone a little bit of love and here it is! Point your iPhone to http://iphone.golark.com and wham! events on the fly. Some of the GoLark iPhone features include:

  • View Events and Recurring larks from any city.
  • Filter by distance and time.
  • Use the built in Google Maps on iPhone to locate exactly where an event is happening.
  • Check out the event’s website with iPhone’s built in Safari browser

Now when your out with your friends standing on a corner wondering what the hell your going to do tonight, bust out your iPhone and find some cool stuff on GoLark.

GoLark Facelift

February 4th, 2008

hello everyone,

We finished up a redesign of the site. We made much of the important features a bit more obvious, like voting and browsing the tags. There were also many other minor changes made, but you probably will not notice those ( at least you won’t if we did them right ). Hope you like the new look and thanks for your support.
